Merthyr Tydfil Leisure Trust  

The transfer of Merthyr Tydfil's Public Libraries from Council ownership to a Trust which took place on 1st April 2015 followed a year of consultation with the public to find the best way of protecting the future of the important leisure and cultural services provided to the community.

With a vision of ‘Enhancing lives through leisure & culture’ Merthyr Tydfil Leisure Trust is responsible for the operation of:

  • Merthyr Tydfil Leisure Centre
  • Aberfan & Merthyr Vale Community Centre
  • Treharris Community Centre
  • Cae Mari Dwn, Pen-y-Dre and the Grove Field Astro Turf Pitches
  • Gôl Football Centre
  • Sk8topia Skate Park
  • Cyfarthfa Castle Museum & Art Gallery
  • Joseph Parry’s Cottage
  • Cyfarthfa Park, including the Splash Pad, Canolfan Cyfarthfa, Golf, Model Railway, Bowls Pavilion, the Lake and Tennis Courts,
  • Central, Dowlais, Aberfan and Treharris Libraries
  • Ynysfach Engine House
  • National Exercise Referral Scheme

The Trust is led by a Chief Executive, supported by a Board of 11 Trustees, which includes members of the public, staff and MTCBC Councillors.

Redhouse Programme Manager - 23 hours per week

To develop the quality and breadth of the performance programme at Redhouse including, music, dance, theatre, visual spectacle and other performing arts activities which contribute to Merthyr Tydfil Leisure Trusts vision of Enhancing Lives through Leisure and Culture.

Trustee Required

The Merthyr Tydfil Leisure Trust (MTLT) is a Non Profit Distributing Organisation (Charitable Trust) which operates Sport, Leisure, Arts and Cultural facilities and services across Merthyr Tydfil. The Trust is now seeking to attract a new Trustee to the existing Board.

A Trustee is required who has a passion for leisure and culture and can bring a range or specific skills and expertise to support the new organisation. 

You should either live, work or have strong links with Merthyr Tydfil and be prepared to act in a voluntary capacity for this exciting new venture.  If you have been a Councillor in the last 4 years, you are not eligible to apply.
